Vermont Youth Cycling Series Race for Grades 5-12

Youth Mountain Bike

REGISTRATION is OPEN and required.
All Mountain Bike riders should pre-register.
Chip timing will be used.
Race course is 5K and 1-4 laps depending on age/ability Boys and Girls will start together, but be scored in separate categories.
Grade 5-6 1 lap
Grade 7-8 2 lap
Grade 9-10 2 lap
Junior Varsity (grades 11-12 or younger ages racing up a category) 3 lap
Varsity (grades 11-12 or younger ages racing up a category) 4 lap
Race is open to individuals for sure! Teams are encouraged for teamwork and support, and fielding a team of 5 or more makes teams eligible for the team standings.
Medals are awarded to top 5 in each category.
There will also be a raffle for some cool swag.

The Vermont 50 Mountain Bike or Ultrarun welcomes the Vermont Youth Cycling Series Race Vermont Youth Cycling Series Race

NEW FOR 2018-A High School Mountain Bike Race for Boys and Girls-Grades 5-12.

Race Registration Opens May 25 7 p.m. EDST

Vermont 50 Mountain Bike or Ultra Run registration opens in six weeks on Friday, May 25 at 7 p.m. EDST.

Fundraise for Vermont Adaptive and Get Registered Early

Help us raise $25,000 for Vermont Adaptive!

If you want a hassle free way to register for the race, commit to raise a minimum of $500 for Vermont Adaptive before Sept. 12, and you can avoid the race registration rush on May 25th! You will be entered into the race by the Race Director. You must contact the Race Director, Mike before May 25 at 7 p.m. if you’d like to choose this option.

You can DONATE any time or become a fundraiser!

Loyalty Priority Registration

In addition, if you have raced with us 6 out of the last 10 Vermont 50s, you are eligible for our Loyalty Priority Registration. As a way of thanking you for your commitment to our race, and for supporting Vermont Adaptive, you will be invited to register for the Vermont 50 before registration opens on May 25. You will receive an email with instructions on how to get registered. So check your inbox in a couple of weeks for an email from RunSignUp.

Marathon Training, Planning and Preparation

Vermont 50 2017 The Start

Regardless of your age and ability, successful marathon training takes careful planning and preparation.

How much preparation?

Whether your goal is to run sub 3 hours or ‘just’ to finish, ideally you need to give yourself at least 18 weeks prior to the event…

And that assumes you have a solid running base to start with – currently averaging 20 plus miles per week.

But even for experienced marathon runners, allowing enough time and putting in the miles isn’t enough. Unless you follow some key principles of training there’s a good chance you’ll hit that wall – or at the very least log a time that doesn’t inspire you.
