LAST CALL!! VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR VERMONT 50 THIS WEEKEND!!
Our race director has been getting LOTS requests to have race day bib pick-ups. As stated in past emails and on our website NO Sunday pick-ups.
Vermont state is fully open, however, the Vermont 50 is striving to keep you, our race community and volunteers safe from COVID-19.
Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
Masks are required in ALL indoor spaces at our race-specifically the BIG TENT. We are also requiring “masks on” while you are at our aid stations. There will be plenty of hand sanitizer around so please use it liberally.
Our aid station volunteers will be wearing masks too and will also be wearing gloves to protect you and them.

VOLUNTEERS are still needed, so if you have a crew or your spectator, that are willing to sign up to help, please have them sign up on line so Amy can put them in a helpful place.

Please check out the Rave Wave page on our website. We’ll have corrals set up on Saturday so you can check out where we will be staging the race waves on Sunday after the racer meeting.
Start Penalties
If you start in a wave ahead of your designated wave/category/age group: your start time will be moved back to the wave time you were classified in and an additional 20 minutes will be added to your finishing time.
The Race Committee has been wicked busy getting thing ready for your arrival.
Pre-Riding or Running the course on Saturday is NOT allowed and has never been allowed. THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE. Failure to comply could cause our landowners to close their properties to our race.

STAY OFF OUR RACE COURSE
Saturday there will be a Horse Event, and they are using many of the same trails we will be using Sunday. This part of our course is owned by horse owners and they do not want runners or mountain bikers on these trails on SATURDAY.
If you come across a horse and rider on the course Sunday, no matter when/where, the horse and rider have the first right of way on the road or trail. It is important for you talk to the rider as you approach them. The rider will instruct you on how to proceed-DO NOT PASS THEM WITHOUT THE RIDER’S OK TO DO SO. THIS APPLIES TO VEHICLES ON THE ROAD too.
If you are traveling to Ascutney Outdoors and using exit 9 on Interstate 91, make sure you go towards Windsor, NOT Hartland. There is a slight detour and it will slow you down, especially if it is Sunday morning. Bridge work is happening until the end of the month.

Camping space reservations are over 75 this year and we usually have under 40. Directions to the camping area will be given at packet pick up on Saturday.
For all those camping, there will be NO CAMPFIRES or NO OPEN FLAMES you will be camping in a hay field with dry grass.
Port-o-lets available.
Please use them.
Remember NO BIG RVs-you will be turned away.
There is NO overnight parking in the main lot. The lot will be cleared before 9:30 PM on Saturday evening. Either you move your car or we will have it towed for you-at your expense.
The morning race rush needs every available parking spot.
Carpooling is encouraged!
You really don’t want to miss Zeke’s presentation…

Leave PLENTY of time Sunday morning; the 50 mile meeting for mountain bikers and runners is at 5:30 a.m. sharp!!
Bring your MASK!
Leave your mountain bike outside the tent-use the bike racks please!
If you arrive LATE–You will NOT be allowed on the access road when the race starts. The road will re-open after the 50 mile runners have cleared the access road (sometime after 6:30 a.m)
Race Meeting for 50 Km runners is at 7:30 a.m.-ya’ll get to sleep in.

Be sure to check out our RACE WEEKEND Schedule Page, so we’re all on the, ummmm, same page.

The Vermont 50-mile Mountain Bike or Ultra Run has been a part of our trail community for almost 3 decades.
Each year we devote a work day to grooming some of our trails that are part of the course.
This year we will meet at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 at Skunk Hollow Tavern upper parking lot, then head out to various parts of the course.
Tools of choice are weed whackers, rakes, and pruners/loppers. Extra tools will be available.
We’ll reconvene at noon for a debriefing over a beverage before heading home to lunch. See you then.
Don’t forget to bring water, and some gloves.Tick protection is advised.
Thanks to Jim and Ascutney Trails for the content of this post.
